Accessing and Starting Your Online Course
Your course will be available on the first day of class and you will need to log-in to your course(s) by the end of the third day of class (first day preferred).
* Not attending class is not considered a form of withdrawal and you will still be responsible for paying the tuition and fees for those courses. Non-attendance may affect your financial aid.
Go to and bookmark My Hawkeye. My Hawkeye refers to the online portal for Hawkeye Community College students. My Hawkeye includes access to your Hawkeye email, My WebAdvisor, and access to Canvas Hawkeye's online learning management system.
Enter your Hawkeye username and password.
Once you are logged in to My Hawkeye, click on the "My Canvas" tab on the right hand side of the page. You will find your course(s) listed there and have access to them on the date listed above.
You can access your syllabus in the Resource tab once your instructor makes it available. To open your syllabus, click on the Resource tab in Canvas. Please read through the syllabus thoroughly for instructor contact information, course information, and assignments, one of which may be a required initial email when class starts.
Check for course policies and guidelines set by the instructor. Make sure you understand them, if not, contact your instructor for clarification. Be sure to follow the course policies and guidelines throughout the course.
Check to see if you need to access or install any software applications that will be used during your online course.
If you have questions about how to use Canvas, Hawkeye's online learning management system, click on the Question (?) button on the left-hand side of the navigation panel for the student tutorial resource.
