Admission Requirements

Students wishing to enroll in a program of study must:

  1. be a high school graduate or equivalent. High School Diploma Verification Process.
  2. meet basic skill competencies in reading, writing, and math.
  3. apply at Hawkeye.

The program you are applying for may have additional admissions requirements. Please visit Programs of Study and review the Admissions page of the program you are interested in for any additional program admissions requirements.

Basic Skill Competencies

Assessment provides information about your academic skills in reading, writing, and math. This information will be used to determine your acceptance, course selection, and registration.

ACT Scores

You must receive a sub-score of 19 or greater in reading, math, and English. If any sub-score is below 19, you must take the COMPASS assessment in that area.

COMPASS Assessment

If you choose not to take the ACT, you must take the COMPASS assessment. The results of your COMPASS assessment will help us recommend appropriate classes for you.

Previous College Experience

Assessment may be waived based on your previous college experience if applicable. Please send your college transcripts to the Admissions office. We will evaluate courses taken, credits earned, and grades received.
