TEAS-V Test
At Hawkeye Community College, it is our goal to help students be successful in our programs. This preadmission exam will help determine student readiness to begin the Practical Nursing curriculum and be utilized to provide advising. The TEAS test (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants. TEAS Assessment DatesRegistering for the TEAS AssessmentCall Student Services to register for a date and time to take your assessment. Appointments cannot be made via email. Test sessions are scheduled in the morning and afternoon Monday through Friday in Student Services only. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your testing appointment. Late arrivals will not be allowed to test. After you Have Scheduled Your TestOnce you have registered for your TEAS test at Hawkeye, you must create an account: -

Complete all fields required including your Hawkeye Community College student ID number. Where do I find my student ID number? This must be completed before you test. -
Be certain to write down your username and password. You will need these to take the test. -
Click “Register” to complete the registration. What to Bring With You to the TEAS Test
Students will not be permitted to test without the following: - A valid photo ID (must include: current photo, signature, and permanent address)
- Check or Cash to pay for the testing/retesting fee. Cost for the test is $45
- ATI account username and password
Calculators may not be used for the test. Preparing for the TEAS TestStudy manuals are available for checkout in the Hawkeye Community College Library. Online Practice Assessments and Study Manuals for the TEAS-V are available to purchase. RetestingYou may retest one time with Hawkeye if your composite score is 63.9% or lower. Retesting fees will apply. You must wait two weeks before retesting. If after two attempts, you are not successful, a referral to Student Services will be offered for career counseling. Remediation is highly recommended; you will receive a link to the remediation tool (Focused Review) with your results from your first test. It is available under the Results tab. Select “Proctored Assessments” and your TEAS assessment. On the far right, click on “Create Focused Review”; this leads you to the remediation tool. Sending Your TEAS Test Scores From Another SchoolIf your Adjusted Individual Total Score is 64.0% or higher, you may submit an official copy of your results to Hawkeye Community College from another school. - Go to www.atitesting.com
