WATERLOO–Hawkeye Community College will host an open house for the Industrial Automation program on Thursday, April 6, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Butler Hall, Room 125, on Hawkeye’s Main Campus, 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo.
The Industrial Automation program prepares individuals for careers as industrial electricians, mechanics, and robotic technicians who work behind the scenes in advanced manufacturing. They install, troubleshoot, program, and maintain equipment and are highly trained in electronics, hydraulics, fluid power, mechanical systems, PLCs, CNC machine repair, and robotics.
Starting wages in this field average $25 and hour, and trained workers are in high demand. The open house is an opportunity to meet area employers, tour the labs, talk to instructors, and learn about careers in this growing field. One attendee will also win a tool bag filled with tools of the trade.
