President Allen Receives Outstanding Chief Administrator Award

WATERLOO—Dr. Linda Allen, president of Hawkeye Community College received the prestigious Outstanding Chief Administrator Award by the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT). This award was presented in Des Moines on March 31 at the 2014 IACCT Conference, which was hosted by Southwestern Community College and Northwest Iowa Community College.

Dr. Allen was recognized for her knowledge, innovative spirit, and servant leadership on the local, state, and national levels. Areas of excellence created at Hawkeye include the state-of-the-art Virtual Hospital, Advanced Technology and Business Center, and Iowa’s Regional Transportation Training Center.

An advocate for community colleges, Dr. Allen serves on state initiatives and national boards of directors for academic quality evaluation including the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, Council of North Central Two-Year Colleges, Community College Accreditation Advisory Committee, and the Association for Community College Entrepreneurship.

In addition, she serves on many local boards including Allen College, Greater Cedar Valley Alliance, and the Cedar Valley United Way Women’s Philanthropy Connection Board of Directors. Dr. Allen has served as Hawkeye’s president since 2010.
