Registration is Underway for Spring Classes at Hawkeye Community College

WATERLOO—Registration is underway for Spring Semester classes which begin the week of January 14 at Hawkeye Community College. Hawkeye offers convenient classes, affordable tuition, and financial aid assistance for qualifying students. The college offers 16 and 8-week classes, 5-week accelerated classes, and online classes. Popular hybrid classes are also available. Hybrid classes are also known as blended learning classes with approximately 50% of the course online and 50% taught in a traditional classroom with an instructor.

Hawkeye students can begin a high-demand career in as little as one year. Choose from a variety of programs such as Agricultural Business Management, Animal Science, Horticulture Science, Accounting, Executive Assistant, Human Resource Management, Legal Office Assistant, Marketing Management, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Police Science, Automotive Technology, and Truck Driving and Transportation Training.

Welding and CNC are both high-demand careers in the Cedar Valley. The college offers options that include a Welding diploma and a CNC Operator certificate in the evening. Participants can earn a certificate in as little as six months. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of welders is expected to grow by 15% in the next 10 years. Properly trained welders and CNC operators with up-to-date training will most likely have the best job prospects.

The college offers Liberal Arts programs that can be completed entirely in the evening which include Education Emphasis for Transfer, Early Childhood Education, and Business Administration. Students can take two years of classes at Hawkeye and then transfer those credits to a four-year college and complete the Bachelor’s degree in two additional years.
