Second Annual Powder Run/Walk to be Held at Hawkeye Community College April 29

WATERLOO—Hawkeye Community College is hosting the second annual Powder Fun Run/Walk on Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This event will be held rain or shine. Participants will get splashed with non-toxic, safe, and environmentally friendly color powder as they run/walk the course to a colorful, tie-dyed finish. Proceeds for the Run/Walk will benefit student scholarships at the college.

This event will be held on Hawkeye’s main campus at the Health Education and Services Center (HESC), located on the northwest side of campus. The day of the run/walk, registration is 5:30-6:15 p.m. The 5K Fun Run/Walk begins at 6:30 p.m. The One Mile Walk begins at 6:35 p.m. A post-event party will be held from 6:50 – 8:00 p.m. at the HESC, where participants can show off their colorful new look! Bring your family for food, games, and music.

Registration fee for the 5K Run/Walk, is $10; the fee is $15 after the April 8 deadline. If mailing, the envelope must be postmarked by the deadline. Registration fee for the One Mile Walk is $5 and $10 after the deadline. T-shirts are available for $10, and it is suggested that interested individuals order by April 8. Registered participants can pick up their packet at the front desk in the Health Education and Services Center on Monday, April 28, from 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. or on the day of the run from 5:30 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.

The course will begin at the Health Education and Services Center and go toward Arboretum Drive, looping back toward the Health Education and Services Center, out to the track to complete two laps, and finish in front of the Health Education and Services Center.
