Two New Administrators Take on Roles at Hawkeye

WATERLOO—Hawkeye Community College recently filled two administrative positions. Dr. Jane Bradley was selected as the new Vice President of Academic Affairs and Aaron Sauerbrei was selected as the Executive Director of Business and Community Education.Dr. Bradley was chosen following a nation-wide search and began her duties in January. She will be responsible for leading all instructional programs and student services at the college. She will also collaborate and supervise the academic deans and lead academic planning and program development efforts. Another part of Dr. Bradley’s duties will include providing faculty and academic staff development and establishing budget priorities.
Dr. Bradley worked in higher education for more than 20 years and was previously the Associate Vice President of Instruction at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. She completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Iowa State University.
She worked as a full-time instructor for more than 13 years and feels this experience helps her understand and relate to the challenges faced by faculty members. Dr. Bradley stated her experience as an Iowa Community College administrator is a good match for this position. She feels she can lead the continued advancement of Hawkeye and expand the college.Sauerbrei also began his duties in January. He will be responsible for assisting business and industry partners in meeting their training needs, developing training opportunities at Hawkeye, and working with college staff to provide necessary training. He will work to provide leadership, financial guidance, and promote economic development in the community. Other responsibilities for Sauerbrei include recruiting staff and expanding job opportunities.
He previously worked for the Institute for Decision Making (IDM) at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, where he delivered and managed IDM programs and technical services at the community level. He also had a role as the Regional Economic Development Director for Iowa Workforce Development. Sauerbrei planned, designed, and conducted interactive planning sessions for community clients. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in Economic Development from the University of Northern Iowa.
Sauerbrei has strong leadership skills and proven ability to manage and motivate a team. In addition, he is highly committed to advancing higher education and retaining a highly-skilled workforce in the region. He looks forward to making a positive impact at Hawkeye.
