Native American Heritage Month

Student Life began this month by a Make & Take event where students had the opportunity to put together all of the ingredients for Bannock Bread, a flat bread, that could be taken home and cooked. This bread was a staple bread to Native Americans. The Make & Take event was held during the lunch hour in Brock Student Center then again that evening in Black Hawk Hall.
We then continued through the month by welcoming the Meskwaki Brown Otter Singers Song and Dance Group on stage, Wednesday November 6 at Noon in Brock Student Center. This group features a variety of traditional dance, drum and song performances to introduce and remind people of the nation's history, specifically of the Meskwaki Native American Group.
Tuesday, November 12 In Observance of Native American Heritage Month: Medicine Game, a documentary about two brothers with a single, life driven goal--was played in Brock Student Center.
Here at Student Life, we encourage all of you to look into the Native American Heritage, specifically, during the month of November.
