Fluid Power Training Program

The comprehensive Fluid Power Training Program is a collaborative effort between the University of Northern Iowa National Ag-Based Lubricants Center (UNI-NABL) and Hawkeye Community College.

The workshops are comprehensive and are designed to truly cover the subject area in an applied format. Hands-on shop activities are conducted on UNI-NABL Hydraulic Trainers and are combined with classroom lectures. The quality of instruction, along with up-to-date handouts and reference materials, and cut-away and tear down components make these workshops the most cost effective, short-term, technical training available anywhere.

About UNI-NABL Center

The UNI-NABL Center was initiated in 1991 to research development of hydraulic and other industrial lubricants from vegetable oils. The program has developed several biodegradable products, including a soybean-based tractor hydraulic fluid, currently on the market.

The research conducted at UNI-NABL promises to improve and expand the market for our nation’s soybean farmers. The program receives support from state, federal, and private industrial partners. The Center is located in a modern facility with state-of-the art equipment for testing lubricant and hydraulic oil performance and chemistry.

As UNI-NABL is a center for testing hydraulic fluids, when possible there will be demonstrations of test instruments such as viscometers, flash fire point testers, cloud and pour point testers, foaming apparatus and particle counters, and contamination reporting.
