Instructors

Dr. Lou Honary

Dr. Lou Honary is the primary instructor for the UNI-NABL workshops and is Director of the UNI-NABL Center. Dr. Honary has taught hydraulics and pneumatics since 1982 and has received Certified Fluid Power Specialist and Certified Fluid Power Engineer titles. He has served as Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) and chaired committees for IFPS. Honary has also been the local secretary for IFPS Chapter and served as Chapter President for two years.

Dr. Honary is active with other organizations such as the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) where he served as Chairman of its Fluid Power Committee. He is currently on the board of the National Lubricating Grease Institute and is the author of a chapter in the Hydraulic Engineering Handbook (2011) A recipient of the IFPS 1995 Industrial Distinguished Achievement Award, Dr. Honary is one of the most recognized fluid power instructors in the industry.

Jim Popovich

Jim Popovich is an Accredited Instructor of the International Fluid Power Society and has conducted hydraulic training classes for a hydraulic component manufacturer and for a community college for over 20 years. Mr. Popovich holds an Electrical Engineering Technology degree from LeTourneau University and a M.S. Ed from Ferris State University.

Jim Popovich is a member of the International Fluid Power Society and is a Certified Fluid Power Specialist, a Certified Pneumatic Instructor and a Fluid Power Instructor.

Mike Cook

Mike Cook received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his Master of Arts degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Northern Iowa. In 1991, he was the recipient of the NASA Space Grant. After 30 years of employment, Mike retired from John Deere Tractor Assembly from the position of Business Unit Manager. While at John Deere, he obtained three patents in Apparatus and Procedure for the adjustment of limited slip differential for the mechanical front wheel drive axel which is used on the front end of John Deere tractors. He is a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Northern Iowa and has been a member of Society of Manufacturing Engineering for 30 years.
