Critical Care: Cardiac Physiology and Angina

Class Description: This class is offered as a module in the 'Managment of the Critically Ill Patient' series. Class objectives include: define cardiac output, cardiac index, ejection fraction, preload, and afterload; describe the determinants of cardiac output; and discuss the etiology, clinical picture, nursing and medical management of angina.The course is designed for healthcare professionals, including nurses, paramedics, EMTs and respiratory therapists, who are providing care for a critically ill patient in multiple settings, such as an emergency department, critical care unit, medical/surgical unit, and home care. Expert instructors will provide the education. The course will include extensive handouts, up-to-date information, CEUs, and a live broadcast via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). Competency testing is also available upon request.
