Critical Care: Endocrine Disorders

Class Description: This class is offered as a module in the 'Managment of the Critically Ill Patient' series. Class objectives include: discuss the etiology, clinical picture, nursing and medical care of the patient with diabetes insipidus, SIADH, and Addison's disease and differentiate the etiology, clinical picture, nursing and medical management of the patient with glucose regulation disorders such as DKA, HHNK, and hypoglycemia, thyroid and parathyroid disorders.The course is designed for healthcare professionals, including nurses, paramedics, EMTs and respiratory therapists, who are providing care for a critically ill patient in multiple settings, such as an emergency department, critical care unit, medical/surgical unit, and home care. Expert instructors will provide the education. The course will include extensive handouts, up-to-date information, CEUs, and a live broadcast via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). Competency testing is also available upon request.
