Hawkeye Dental Administrative Chair, Dr. Emily Boge, is a 2000 graduate of Hawkeye's Dental Assisting program and a 2003 graduate of Hawkeye's Dental Hygiene program.
After attending Hawkeye, she received her Bachelor's degree in psychology with an emphasis in gerontology and her Master’s in Public Administration in Healthcare from Upper Iowa University; then continued her education to receive her doctorate at Franklin University in 2022, majoring in organizational leadership and higher education.
Prior to her employment at Hawkeye, Dr. Boge practiced as a full-time clinical dental hygienist in Manchester, Iowa, while also working in the corporate sector of the dental industry where she designed and marketed two dental instruments internationally. Dr. Boge owns a dental speaking, writing, and consulting firm called Think Big Dental where she lectures and promotes innovation. She is an active member of her professional associations (ADHA, AADH, IFDH, ADAA, ADEA, and OSAP), advocating for the dental hygiene profession on various levels.
Boge received the 2015 Master Clinician Award from the American Dental Hygienists' Association, the 2012 Iowa Dental Hygienists’ Association's Hygienist of the Year, the 2019 Iowa Dental Hygienists’ Association's Distinguished Service Award, the 2020 Recipient of the Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene from the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and Johnson & Johnson, Co., the 2021 Recipient of the Hawkeye College President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership, the 2022 NISOD Excellence Award Recipient for the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene.
In her spare time, Dr. Boge enjoys spending time with her family, classic cars, cooking, traveling, and shopping.
