JOB SUMMARY: This individual utilizes Hawkeye’s academic support services, financial assistance, personal advising, and counseling services to enhance each individual student program completion. Prepares required reports for the Iowa Advanced Manufacturing Grant. Monitors and assists students with hands-on laboratory work in a training environment. Assists in developing appropriate surveys to students, faculty, and public. Completes student evaluation documents. Assists the Iowa Advanced Manufacturing Project Coordinator in developing a research-based, systematic approach to assess and support students’ retention. Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in a manufacturing related area and three years of directly related work experience in manufacturing or technical education or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have leadership ability. Ability to be a resource or provide expertise to key activity personnel to achieve grant activity objectives. Experience in student retention issues related to college level intake and orientation, diagnostic/classroom assessment, computer-based tracking, and educational, financial, and personal advisement. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Candidates must have the ability to work with team to collect data and information for project development. Ability to work with diverse populations, faculty, staff, and students. Working knowledge of computer including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Preferences include experience working with adult student population and work experience within a community college.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
