JOB SUMMARY: This individual plans, recommends, implements, and/or coordinates all activities and programs offered at the Western Outreach Center and the Waverly Center. Manages the Center office and supervises support staff and volunteers. Manages programs within budgets. Manages programs and serves as the community representative of the College by providing information to area residents. Hires, supervises, and evaluates staff related to the Western Outreach Center and the Waverly Center. Maintains and promotes interaction and cooperation with college community, community agencies, and community-at-large. Researches and collaborates with College Grant Writers to prepare grant proposals related to Western Outreach Center and the Waverly Center to ensure program funding as needed. Recruits and advises students from community and college regarding career and occupational choices. Serves as a resource person for instructors and the community-at-large. Serves as a contact person for other college departments and offices requiring information, advice, or recommendations on matters relating to the Western Outreach Center and the Waverly Center and its students. Assists students in meeting their needs with class selection, testing, and registration information as needed. Ensures maintenance of confidential records. Monitors classes and testing operations as needed. Orders equipment and supplies and coordinates with maintenance for facilities. Represents Hawkeye Community College on various boards and committees in the associated communities. Assists the Vice President in the evaluation and revision of program services. Collaborates with College Public Relations staff to direct public relations efforts and promotion of the Center. Promotes workforce training and education through appropriate marketing measures. Participates in college and professional development activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, education, communication (behavioral sciences) or related field. Considerable knowledge of community resources related to program(s) and services. Working knowledge of Iowa occupations and educational opportunities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop business plan and manage outcomes. Knowledge of guidance/advising skills. Demonstrated ability to write and manage grants. Knowledge of personal computer and related software. Ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to travel to industries, businesses, and group meetings. Basic computer skills. Flexibility for travel to and from appointments on evenings and weekends as needed. Preferences include organization leadership or management experience.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution).
