JOB SUMMARY: This individual researches and recommends educational technologies that support teaching for learning in college-level courses. Collaborates with others to plan, purchase, and implement multimedia technologies in classrooms, meeting spaces, and other technology enhanced learning spaces. Collaborates with Communication and Information Systems (CIS) department to define standards and promote reliable technology resources. Provides ongoing installation, maintenance, and inventory of technology in classrooms. Responds to classroom calls and service tickets to troubleshoot and provide technical support for classroom multimedia. Coordinates technical support for classroom multimedia equipment and collects data to determine needs for professional development and process improvements. Consults with faculty and staff on instructional design and delivery methods appropriate with current and emerging technologies. Recommends appropriate integration of instructional technologies with active learning strategies, including web based tools, social media technologies, and multimedia equipment for instructional use. Matches faculty abilities and objectives with appropriate learning-focused technologies for use in classrooms and within the college’s Learning Management System. Incorporates understanding of the college’s academic standards, online/hybrid standards, assessment goals, and other strategic initiatives into training and consultation with faculty. Provides professional development and training resources to the college community supporting instructional technology and web-based tools. Promotes an organized, professional, self-directed environment for users of the Digital Resources Lab. Maintains the equipment check-out process and inventories in the Digital Resources Lab. Provides audio and visual services for academic-related events. Provides backup technical support and administration of the college’s Learning Management System. Maintains current and in-depth knowledge of current and emerging technologies, learning theories, instructional strategies, accessibility standards, and best practices. Works flexible hours as needed. Develops and maintains documentation of work processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in education or technology related field applicable to the development of technology-enhanced instruction. Understands learning theories and how to effectively integrate instructional technologies. Experience planning, purchasing, installing, troubleshooting, and supporting instructional technologies. Experience with audio and video production. Experience with Learning Management Systems such as ANGEL, Blackboard, Moodle, or others. Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and effectively collaborate with diverse staff, students, and public. Adept at learning new technologies and software applications. Ability to work effectively independently and with a team. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Preferences include a Master’s degree in education or technology and work experience in an educational setting.
