Diesel Truck and Agricultural Power Technology Instructor

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time position teaching courses in the Diesel Truck and Agricultural Power Technology programs. The primary instructional assignments will include Diesel Engine Fundamentals up through Tier 4, over the road tractor trailer maintenance, and off and on-road drive train repair and maintenance. Major responsibilities include planning and guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects for student implementation. Other responsibilities include active participation as a department member with a focus on student learning, facilitating discipline related activities, assessment of student achievement, student academic advising, and department committee assignments. Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). A full-time teaching load of 15 credit hours per term is typical. This individual will maintain cooperative relationships with the Dean, other faculty, all divisions of the College, prospective employers, and the community. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Special training and 6,000 hours of recent, relevant work experience. Ability to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, staff, and the public. Ability to apply teaching skills, motivate and interest students, be personable and professional, and be able to learn and apply new concepts and ideas. Preferences include a related Associate’s degree.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Nine-month contractual position beginning in August of 2014. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution).
