JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for the Business Services Department of the College (currently 11 staff members). Supervises accounting functions and staff for general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and payroll. Keeps accounting records in balance and reconciled. Monitors budget (in excess of $55 million) and prepares and reviews financial reports and claims for miscellaneous Federal and State grants. Keeps financial records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Works with auditors in supplying necessary materials and schedules. Evaluates staff performance. Establishes and conducts staff training. Works with students to resolve student account balances. Develops written procedures for business operations. Collaborates with other departments for budgeting, purchasing, and financial decision making. Oversees investment of College funds. Performs other related Business Office duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Five years directly related work experience required. Supervisory experience required. Experience with Excel and Word. Working knowledge of and commitment to sound accounting practices, procedures, and principles. Working knowledge of budget administration and fiscal monitoring. Ability to work with staff, students, local, State, and County business and Government officials, and the general public. Project a positive professional image. Ability to work with confidential information. Must provide excellent customer service. Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond quickly to deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Work experience with governmental accounting procedures and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred.
