JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time faculty position with teaching responsibilities in the Early Childhood Program (AAS degree) and the Education transfer program (AA degree). Instructional areas may include but are not limited to education, early childhood education (technical program) and other related courses. Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). A full-time teaching load is 15 credit hours per term. Major responsibilities include planning and guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. The individual will assess student learning on a regular basis, participate in departmental, committee, and professional development activities and maintain appropriate relationships with faculty, other members of the college, and the community. This individual will report to the Dean of Communications, Humanities, Education, and Fine Arts.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field and a minimum of three years full time experience or equivalent in the area of early childhood education and/or child care is required. The applicant must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, staff, and the public. The applicant must also demonstrate or document the ability to develop curriculum and an understanding of various learning styles and instructional modalities. In addition to stated qualifications, preference will be given to an individual who has knowledge of current child care and education trends and knowledge of Department of Human Services day care licensing standards and procedures.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Nine-month contractual position beginning August 19, 2013. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution).
