JOB SUMMARY: This individual serves as a full-time core faculty with assignment as Program Director in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Responsibilities include guiding faculty in the scheduling of courses, clinical coordinator, student advising and scheduling, program curriculum coordination, providing reports, and assisting in program marketing. This position has the responsibility of providing high-quality classroom instruction and leadership to the students of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. Necessary skills for this position include the ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses, employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assess student progress on a regular basis, and provide progress reports as required. Experience with or commitment to various instructional modalities such as computer-mediated instruction is essential. Beyond instructional responsibility, this position requires advising and providing leadership to students. This individual will be expected to demonstrate exemplary teamwork skills and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, the Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community. Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree. Must be a Certified Occupational Therapist. Must hold or be eligible for such professional license as required by the State of Iowa. Must have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of occupational therapy, including practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant, including administrative or supervisory experience. Must have an understanding of and experience with occupational therapy assistants as evidenced by experience in practice, educational, and/or volunteer activities with occupational therapy assistants. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, staff, and the public. Teaching experience preferred.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Twelve-month contractual position beginning August of 2014. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution).
