JOB SUMMARY: This individual performs confidential administrative support duties, which include typing, filing, and answering telephones for staff and administrator, scheduling appointments, and assisting staff and administrator in preparing for meetings. Answers Student Activities main phone line; receives incoming mail, prepares, enters, and manages various Student Activities databases. Assists in the planning and implementation of student activities. Ensures that correct distribution and disposition is made of complaints, notices, publications, memoranda, directives, and related materials. Assists with use of the Student Center’s media technology. Creates correspondence including interoffice and outgoing letters, memoranda, and requisitions/purchase orders. Collects and compiles information on budgets. Engages in contact with parents, students, and outside agencies with a high degree of interpersonal communications skills. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate of Arts degree and two years secretarial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong customer services skills. Personal computer experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and desktop publishing. Working knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standard office equipment. Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the operations, functions, and scope of authority of the College as related to the handling and disposition of complaints, requests for information, and delegated administrative details.. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work on multiple tasks. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions. Ability to type at least 40 wpm net. Ability to work with diverse groups, faculty, staff, students, and general public. Ability to maintain and prepare records and reports.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part time position averaging 29 hours per week with wages expected to be $12.61 per hour.
