JOB SUMMARY: This individual assists students with software questions to complete assignments. Prepares and presents Student Tutoring and Computer (STC) lab orientations and conducts specific software workshops. Tracks student use of STC lab. Assists students with internet research and on-line course procedures. Helps students access Hawkeye e-mail and online services. Enforces college policies on network, computer, and internet use. Contributes to a supportive and friendly environment in the STC. Assists students with adaptive technology equipment and software. Assists students with appropriate tutorials, programs and applications in STC Lab. Exercises professional judgment when providing student account information according to FERPA regulations. Exercises professional judgment when providing student account information according to HIPPA regulations. Assists students with computer/printer questions in the lab and with connection of devices to mobile network. Corresponds via email with faculty, staff, students, and administrators. Keeps hardware and software operating effectively. Works with CIS to install hardware and software in the labs. Notes and records problems with hardware and software. Differentiates between network and personal computer problems. Keeps knowledge of computer applications and operations current. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree with emphasis related to administrative assistant, business, education, computer, or closely related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point software with advanced computer skills. Knowledge of on-line applications and educational resources (i.e., Angel, Blackboard, etc.). Working knowledge of personal computers and a wide range of software applications. Ability to troubleshoot common computer hardware and software problems. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team atmosphere. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple priorities, tasks, and projects. Able to work with minimal supervision in a cooperative, contributive manner. Ability to work with confidential information. Ability to respond to emergency situations. Ability to establish and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Must project a positive professional image. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, students, faculty, and staff. Preferences include Microsoft Office Certified and experience using IPADS in an educational setting.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part time position averaging 26 hours per week with wages expected to be $15.43 per hour. Anticipated evening and weekend hours between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and Saturday or Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. during the Fall and Spring academic semesters (late August to early May).
