Applying for Summer Financial Aid

Summer financial aid requires a separate application and award letter.

To be eligible for Federal Stafford Loans and Federal Stafford Parent (PLUS) loans for the Summer semester, you need to be enrolled in at least six credit hours.

Federal Pell Grants require that you are enrolled in at least three credit hours. If you were eligible to receive the Pell Grant during the Fall 12/Spring 13 semesters and you did not enroll full time (12+ credit hours) during both semesters, you may be able to receive some Pell Grant funding during summer.

Hawkeye scholarships are not awarded for the summer term.

To Apply for Summer Financial Aid

  1. Complete a 2012-13 FAFSA if you have not done so already.

  2. Register for Summer classes starting March 25, 2013.

  3. Complete the Summer 2013 Financial Aid Application [pdf] and return to the Financial Aid office. The Summer 2013 Financial Aid Application will be available once students are able to register for Summer classes.

Summer awarding normally begins in March after students are able to register for summer courses.
