Dance Team Guidelines and Procedures


Student-athletes must maintain their college requirements in order to participate in the Dance Team.

If your grades fall below a 2.0 GPA and the College feels you need to spend more time after school making up the work, you will not be allowed to practice or play in games until all grades are brought back up to the acceptable 2.0 GPA.

The coach will be get updates from Hawkeye on the status of your GPA and class work.


As a student-athlete you will be expected to attend each and every training session and meet. If you cannot make it to practice or a meet, it is your responsibility to inform the coach about your absence in advance.

Be on Time

Training sessions begin promptly as given to you in the schedule. All equipment needs to be in place. Warm-ups will begin promptly.


Captains will be selected by the coaches and advisors. A captain must be a good leader, keep the team enthusiastic, and be a good role model – both on the field and off. Captains are also the people in charge of the Dance Team Club and its operation. Warm-ups are done as a team, led by the captains. Member must be focused and preparing for the competition.


If you have a question or concern, please use the following procedure to address them.

  • Do not confront the coach at the practice or game field with your concern.

  • Contact the coach with your concern or question after you have had one day to think of exactly what your concern is about.

  • Do not let your concern go more than two days after you have thought about it.

  • The coach will listen to you then decide if more information needs to be gathered. You will receive a response within two days.

  • If you feel there is any problem of danger or safety to any player(s) please contact the coach or the advisor immediately.


Before the first meet, you will be issued an uniform. These are to be worn only at the meets. Any lost or damaged items will be charged to you.


Good sportsmanship will be demonstrated at all times. There will be no foul language, trash talk, dissent to any player, official, spectator, or coach. All players will perform to the best of their ability with the help of each other. Good sportsmanship will make you a better player.

Remember: The Referees Ref, The Spectators Cheer, The Players Play, and The Coaches Coach.

Misconduct, Abuse of School Policies, Drugs, and Alcohol

All college policies are in effect. See the Student Handbook for further details. There also will be a discussion with the coach about the consequences.
