CSI Camp

Interested in solving crime? Step into the shoes of a crime scene investigator and learn how to identify and gather evidence. Work together to collect fingerprints and use them to find suspects. Participate in a mock crime scene investigation and learn the techniques of using a microscope to identify hairs, fibers, and other forms of trace evidence in hopes of cracking the case.

Mathematics in Art, Technology, and History

Explore topics that have interesting connections to mathematics. Topics include art, games, history, technology, and methods of computation that were created long before modern-day calculators and computers.

Multimedia Camp

Do you like taking pictures? Have you ever wanted to record music or make a movie? Here’s your chance! Learn the basics of capturing that perfect photo and discover the exciting process that goes into making your own movie and recording music for production.

When: June 22–25, 2015 8:30am–noon 9–11 years of age
12:30–4:00pm 12–15 years of age

Creative Writing Camp

Interested in writing? Put those creative minds to work learning the basics of writing poetry, short stories, and plays.

When: July 13–16, 2015 8:30am–noon 9–11 years of age

Cost: $70
Registration: Register online by July 6.

Painting Camp

Love painting? This camp is your chance to learn a variety of new painting skills. Students will select a picture to reference for their painting and transfer the subject to painting supports and work with water mixable oils or acrylic to interpret the image.

When: July 13–16, 2015 12:30pm–4:00pm 9–11 years of age
Where: Hawkeye Community College Main Campus—Black Hawk Hall

Dance Camp

Want to learn more about dance? Campers will work on safe dance skills for hip-hop and pom with team building activities. Participants will work in a team-based atmosphere while learning choreography to show off at their performance.

When: July 20–23, 2015 8:30am–noon 9–11 years of age
12:30–4:00pm 12–15 years of age
Where: Hawkeye Community College Main Campus—Health Education and Services Center
Performance: Dancers will perform the last 20 minutes of their session on the last day.

Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Camp

This camp will teach kids basic first aid, principles of safety in the home, and fire prevention. Participants will learn what to do in the event of an emergency or fire and basic first aid and CPR.

When: July 20–23, 2015 12:30–4:00pm 9-11 years of age

Golf Camp

Camp participants will learn fundamentals of the golf game including grip, swing, and etiquette of the game.
