Understanding Your Loan Responsibilities
As a student, it’s important to complete entrance loan counseling to fully understand the terms and responsibilities of borrowing financial aid loans.
This process will educate you on how loans work, including repayment options, what happens if you default, and how to budget effectively. It also highlights the importance of responsible borrowing and ensures you know your obligations as a borrower.
Completing entrance counseling is a requirement for all federal student loan borrowers, helping you feel well-informed and prepared before taking on debt. Even if you’ve completed Entrance Loan Counseling at another school, you still need to complete it for Hawkeye Community College.
During Entrance Loan Counseling you will learn about:
- The Direct Loan program
- Your rights and responsibilities as a borrower
- Managing educational expenses
- Preparing for successful repayment
