Summer Tech Camps

Fun STEM Learning from Black Rocket

Keep your kids entertained this summer at our fun, engaging, and educational STEM camps. Designed for curious and creative young minds, these hands-on camps give students the chance to dive into coding, robotics, game design, and more. Whether you're a beginner or already tech-savvy, our engaging activities and expert instructors will help your child develop new skills in a fun and supportive environment. Get ready to innovate, create, and explore the endless possibilities of technology!

Camp Details

Time: Camps are available for students ages 8–16, split into two age groups:

  • Campers ages 8–11 will meet from 8 AM to 12 PM.
  • Campers ages 12–16 will meet from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Location: Each camp takes place at Hawkeye's Main Campus in Buchanan Hall.

Cost: $179 per camp

Scholarship funding is unavailable at this time. Complete the scholarship application and if funding becomes available, we will notify you. To secure your spot, please register online and pay in full at the time of registration.

July 7–10, 2025 Minecraft Designers

If you love Minecraft and always wanted to design your own world, this class is for you! Learn how to create a custom map, design structures to share between worlds, build with Redstone and Command blocks, and create custom textures for you to import at home or share with friends. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.

July 14–17, 2025 YouTube Content Creators

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time to start a career as the next YouTube star. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills.

July 21–24, 2025 Make Your First 3D Video Game

In this Black Rocket classic, you will go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling.
