Occupational Skills Training and Support Services for SNAP Recipients

SNAP Employment and Training is a voluntary program for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. The program offers recipients job seeking skills, classroom training, and structured employment search, at no cost to participants.

Eligibility

To participate, individuals must:

  • Be a SNAP recipient
  • Age 18 or older
  • Not receiving FIP/PROMISE JOBS services
  • Reside in a Hawkeye service area
  • Be able and ready to work within one year of training completion
  • Interested in training programs that lead to careers within:
    • Advanced Manufacturing
    • Construction and Skilled Trades
    • Healthcare
    • Transportation

Services Provided

  • Tuition assistance
  • Job search assistance
  • Job retention services
  • Personal supports such as transportation, emergency rental, and/or utility assistance, etc.
  • Clothing, uniforms, equipment, tools and materials necessary for training, education, job search and employment
