Christian started his career as a teacher, but decided that wasn't the path for him. He decided to transition to a construction career and started the Carpentry Apprenticeship with Team Builders.

Program Overview

Get hands-on experience from day one, working alongside skilled carpenters on real projects all while earning a paycheck!

Working under the supervision of experienced carpenters, you'll learn how to build and repair structures made of wood and other materials. Your apprenticeship will last around four years and includes 8,000 hours of OJT. During training you'll learn a wide range of skills, including:

Framing
Installing windows and doors
Roofing
Cabinetry
Finish work

As an apprentice, you're required to complete a set number of classroom hours. The classroom sessions include topics like carpentry theory, blueprint reading, construction safety, math, and building codes.

A carpentry apprenticeship in Iowa is four years and includes 576 hours of classroom instruction.

During your apprenticeship you will earn OSHA-10 certification and upon program completion may qualify as a journeyman carpenter.

Carpentry Apprenticeship Levels

The carpentry apprenticeship curriculum is approved by the Iowa Department of Labor. Each of the levels fulfill the classroom training hours required for an approved apprenticeship program.

Level 1 Embark on a comprehensive learning journey that equips you with essential skills laying the groundwork for success in the construction industry.
