RedTail Food Pantry

Addressing Hunger on Campus

Students experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to access the RedTail Food Pantry throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Students may use the pantry once per week and select the food they would like to take.

There is no cost to access the pantry, but students are required to provide contact information for data purposes.

The pantry is an agency partner of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and is supported by the AmeriCorps program.

There are several ways to donate:

  • Contact the Foundation to make a monetary donation.
  • Visit our Amazon Wishlist to directly order high demand dry storage foods and personal care items that will be delivered directly to the pantry.
  • Visit the Foundation office to drop off your non-expired food and hygiene donations to the food pantry.
  • Conduct a hygiene or canned food drive with your club or organization.
  • Volunteer in the food pantry by contacting the Food Pantry Coordinator.

The RedTail Food Pantry was first launched by Joyce Levingston (Hawkeye alumna and community member). Once established, it was supported by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society students. They were inspired by the growing awareness of student food insecurities shown and documented throughout their service-learning classes from Spring 2018 to Spring 2020.

Since May 2020 the RedTail Food Pantry has been supported through distributions from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, donations from local supporters, gifts to the Foundation's Student Emergency Fund, and individual donations of non-expired food.
