Required for Federal Student Loan Borrowers
If you’ve borrowed a Federal Direct Loan while at Hawkeye, you must complete Federal Exit Loan Counseling. This applies whether or not you’re currently borrowing loans or if you plan to continue your education elsewhere.
The counseling session provides essential information about loan repayment, your options, and obligations. It helps you understand your responsibilities and the terms of your loans, preparing you for payments after graduation or leaving school.
You'll need to complete an Exit Loan Counseling session:
- During your final semester of each certificate, diploma, and degree you earn.
- If you withdraw from Hawkeye.
- If you are enrolled in less than six credit hours.
Please allow 3–4 business days for processing.
Note: You won't be able to receive your Hawkeye transcript or diploma until you complete this requirement.
