Family Literacy Program

Helping Parents Support Children's Reading

The Family Literacy Program helps parents at the Adult Learning Center learn ways to support their children's reading skills.

If you are a parent or caregiver of children 18 years or younger and signed up for High School Completion or English Language Learning classes at the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center, this program is available to you.

As a participant, you'll have regular in-person or online sessions with the Parent Education Specialist during your English Language Learning or High School Completion classes. These sessions focus on helping you use age-appropriate reading materials with your child at home. You'll also learn how to better understand school communications and how to engage your child in fun, family activities at home that build their reading and math skills.

You’ll even get free books and literacy materials to take home after each class.
