Program Overview

Learn how to lead a construction crew. If you want to become a crew leader or foreman, this course will teach you the skills to make sure your team works safely and gets the job done.

Learn important leadership and site management skills, such as:

  • How to schedule and plan work
  • How to report job progress
  • Project planning and estimating
  • How to manage team resources
  • Leading different types of workers
  • Solving team problems and conflicts

Practice your leadership skills in the Introduction to Construction Trades class. You'll oversee projects and guide your team in real work situations on Habitat for Humanity building or rehabilitation jobs.

Over 80%of your training hours will be spent on the jobsite.

After successful completion, you will receive the National Center for Construction Education (NCCER): Fundamentals of Crew Leadership credential.

This program is certified by the NCCER, a nationally-recognized provider of construction trades curriculum, assessments, and safety-conscious programming.

This program is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid, but other sponsorships and assistance often cover the total cost of the class, such as WE Build Waterloo and AmeriCorps Build Crew Member.
