Library Resources and Services for Faculty

Supporting Curriculum and Research

The library staff encourages you to consider the Hawkeye Library as your library of choice when looking for books and videos, periodicals, and online resources to support curriculum and your own research.

You play a primary role in connecting students with the library, so we encourage you to find out about our collections and services and promote them to your students.

Enhancing Your Courses with Library Services

Faculty recommendations for new library materials help create a stronger library collection to support student research.

You may submit requests for new books and videos to the library director.

Most faculty recommendations are purchased. You will be contacted as soon as the item is available for use.

If you want to put books, videos, or other materials on reserve for your students, you can do that at the Circulation Desk. These items can come from the library or your own collection, and they’re usually things you either require or recommend your students to read or watch.

We’d love to have you bring your classes to the library for group research sessions! If you’re interested, just reach out to the reference librarian for more details.

You can also request specialized instruction for your students. This could be on how to research specific topics, how to use the library’s online resources, or even just a general library tour.

Let us know how we can help support your students!
